2026-2027 Religious Education Registration open

May 18, 2026 – August 27, 2026

We are adding a new policy in an effort to have children ready to receive Confirmation.  

If your child has not been enrolled through all grades (1-8) when they come into our program to begin preparation for Confirmation they will be placed in our 6th grade class to have more time to understand the basics of the faith and then build on that knowledge in seventh and eighth grade.  

In this world of contrary ideas and beliefs it is vital to give your children a strong foundation rooted in faith. We highly encourage all school aged children to be enrolled in religious education beginning in first grade and continuing through Confirmation, which is traditionally gained in eighth grade.

St. Stephen the Martyr offers faith formation classes for children in grades 1-Confirmation through our Religious Education Program. As parents, you are the primary teachers of passing the Catholic faith to your children.  Our program serves to supplement those teachings using the Diocesan curriculum and supplemental materials.

Religious Education Class Information

Our classes for the 2026-2027 school year will run from September 13, 2026 through May 23, 2027 and are held at Aldie Elementary School on Sunday mornings from 11:15 am – 12:30 pm.  Through the program, children will learn what it means to be a faith-filled Catholic and how they can apply these values to their everyday lives.

Sacramental Preparation

We offer a two-year Sacramental preparation program for those who wish to receive First Holy Communion or Confirmation. The program helps children know and understand more deeply God’s immense love for each of us.  We offer 1st grade classes in English and Spanish.

Attendance at the Saturday Vigil or Sunday Mass is required for those enrolled in their Sacramental year for First Penance and First Communion (typically 2nd grade) and Confirmation (typically 8th grade).  There will be a binder with attendance sheets in the Narthex each week we have religious education classes.

Tuition Fees:   (Before Late Fees)

1 Child – $125.00

2 Children – $175.00

3 or more Children – $225.00

Sacramental Preparation Fees (In addition to Tuition Fees):

First Penance/First Communion Sacramental Preparation Fee – $ 50.00

Confirmation Sacramental Preparation Fee – $ 100.00

Registrations submitted July 15th– August 27th will incur a $50.00 late fee

No registrations will be accepted after August 27th

Shareen Klos, Director of Religious Education, will be available in the St. Stephen the Martyr office to help families register on

Tuesdays from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Parish Registration Required

You must have your Parish ID/Envelope # in order to register for Religious Education.  If you need this number email office@saint-stephen.org.  To complete religious education enrollment, we must have payment in full and a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate and Baptismal Certificate on file before they will be placed in a class.

To enroll in our program, you must be a registered member of St. Stephen the Martyr.  If you are not currently registered and live within our parish boundaries, please use the following link to complete the process Become a Member of St. Stephen the Martyr. 

If you are not a registered member of St. Stephen the Martyr and live outside of our parish boundaries, you must have been registered by November 18, 2025 in order to be eligible to register for the 2026 – 2027 Religious Education program.
